What is the DELF A1?
DELF A1 tests the initial knowledge in the French language.
The DELF A1 examination is based on level A1 of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
DELF A1 recognizes basic knowledge. It is the most basic level at which a language is used, called the "discovery" stage.
At this stage, you can :
Interact in a simple way: you can speak about your immediate environment.
Communicate in a basic way: greet a person, introduce yourself, talk about your family, talk about your hobbies, ask someone for something.
Master basic vocabulary: professions, nationalities, numbers, days of the week, family, colors, simple adjectives.
Master the following grammatical structures: common verbs, present tense, personal / possessive / interrogative and tonic pronouns, the negation, definite and indefinite articles, the expression of quantity, ordinal numbers, logical connections.
What is the DELF A1 test?
A good way of preparing for DELF A1 is to see what the test consists of. There are 4 parts in the test:
Oral comprehension
Answering comprehension questionnaires on three or four very short, recorded documents related to everyday life situations which you will hear twice. Around 20 minutes (score 25)
Reading comprehension
Answering comprehension questionnaires on four or five written documents related to everyday life situations. 30 minutes (score 25)
Written production
Two parts:
complete a form, or similar document
write simple sentences on topics of daily life. 30 minutes (score 25)
Oral production:
Three parts:
directed interview (1 minute )
exchange of information (2 minutes)
simulated dialogue (2 minutes).
You are given 10 minutes to prepare for parts 2 and 3 (score 25)
