When you think of TikTok you might automatically imagine videos of people doing crazy dances and singing along to songs. But the truth is over the past years TikTok has become one of the most popular entertainment platforms, and it can be an extremely useful tool for your French language learning journey. Here are some reasons why learning French on Tik Tok can be efficient. We are also sharing the 6 Tik Tok accounts to help you to perfect your French.

Why TikTok is an Effective Tool to Learn French

Following a variety of French TikTok accounts is an excellent way to spice up your French learning experience. Although reading and writing is a crucial part of learning French, listening to how the language is spoken by natives is equally as important.

On TikTok, you can find short videos on French grammar and vocabulary, popular slang terms and common language mistakes people tend to make. As a bonus, a lot of the videos are absolutely hilarious so you can have a good laugh whilst learning.

Contrary to popular belief, TikTok is not just for the younger generation, it has something for everyone. You also have the option to comment on videos, so you can build connections with other French learners. Studies have shown that people memorize more through listening to a language rather than by simply reading.

We highly recommend using TikTok as a fun French learning tool. That’s why we have put together a list of 6 excellent TikTok accounts to get you started. Take a look below.

6 TikTok Accounts to Help You Learning French

Here 6 TikTok accounts to bring a bit more excitement into your French learning. Most TikTok videos are quite short (a few seconds long) but if you watch even just a few every day, your brain will begin to pick up new words and sounds rapidly.

1 - @encorefrenchlessons

@encorefrenchlessons is run by Emmanuel, a native French speaker and teacher. Do you want to know different ways of saying ‘ça va?’ Or how to use the ‘y’ when forming a sentence in French? From vocabulary on colors and vegetables, to how to actually make a proper French crêpe in 15 seconds, this account is a brilliant one to learn some spoken French.

2 - @loicsuberville

@loicsuberville was born in Mexico but was raised by his French family. Loïc’s videos are incredibly humorous. In a lot of his videos he makes fun of aspects of the French language that just don’t make sense. For example, why is “I am” (Je suis) and “I follow” (je suis) the exact same in French?!

A lot of Loïc’s videos discuss when to use ‘le’ and ‘la’ in French. He makes mistakes on purpose and then corrects them. This is actually a really helpful technique because it will remind you not to make the same mistakes as him!

3 - @atfrenchies

@atfrenchies - Alex and Tom, two Parisians run this account. They have videos about typical French words people tend to pronounce incorrectly (e.g: beaucoup), French slang terms and words that sound the same in French but mean completely different things. They also have funny clips of American people trying to pronounce the word ‘croissant’. They love interacting with their viewers, so if you have a question, pop it in their comments section and they might get back to you!

4- @studyfrench

Eddy is a native French speaker. He has videos on common French mistakes, all the different tenses, and general tips for language learning. Eddy also has content on more random topics such as popular supermarket chains in France and how to swear in French. So, with Eddy you get a bit of everything!

5 - @myfrenchstory

This account is run by Pearl, a French teacher. Her account is great because she really breaks down French learning into easier chunks. She speaks slowly and clearly to allow you to understand what is being said. She has videos on how to answer the phone in French, how to gossip in French and weird French insults. There is even a video about French pet names for men.

6 - @frenchteachercarlito

@frenchteachercarlito Charles Leto is a French model and also a teacher. I think he speaks rather quickly in his videos, but it’s good to get used to the sounds and the pace if you are at an intermediate or advanced level. His “test your French” videos are great, where he puts up images of random French objects and you have to guess their names.
